Showing posts with the label hat

So long, Blogspot. Hello, Wordpress!

I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ .  There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer.  I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...

{knitting} Up & up hat

In an effort to be more diligent about recording everything I make this year, there's a different face around here today! It's my friend Ludmila who was staying with us last week - along with her lovely husband. I've known Lud since we were 19, all the way back in 1998! 🤯🤯🤯 She still lives in Brasil but we've remained as close as ever as the years went by. When she fixed her wedding date to be the week before I moved to the UK so I could be there, I knew we were forever. 😆💗 So when we were in Leeds last week and she found some  Rowan Big Wool  in a gorgeous shade of yellow, I didn't hesitate to offer to make her a hat with it. It might have been a risky proposition as this was Monday lunchtime, they were going home on Thursday and we were spending Tuesday and Wednesday in Dublin with no space to bring any knitting with me - only a backpack allowed. 🤦‍♀️ But hey, Big Wool knits up so fast and she offered to take care of dinner that night so I could knit in peac...

{knitting} Miss Eke's Lina hat

Teacher gift number 2 is the  Lina hat  I made for Nina's teacher, Miss Eke. This year was Nina's last in Primary School. It's been  ridiculously  a little bit emotional for her as well as for me. Miss Eke has a lot to answer for in that department. Nina loves her to bits. She made it so much easier on them all and we're very grateful indeed. I was a little concerned that this was going to be her first year as a qualified teacher - I mean, year 6 is tricky -  but I had no reason to worry. She's amazing and I hope Liam gets her, too, when it's his turn.

{knitting} Mr Noble's Habitat

Ok, so school is out for the summer and I have some teachers' gifts to talk about this week. I'm going to post them all separately over the next few days. I have been busy making all kinds of stuff, despite the blog being quiet. I just haven't had the motivation nor the time to edit photos and to write blog posts. I have found motivation and time today - only because it's been so godawfully hot that I just couldn't be arsed doing anything else!

{knitting} FO: Skiff by Brooklyn Tweed

Hello, again! And looky what we have here... A finished project and bonus orange beard shots for you to feast your eyes on. Yep, I finished  the hat ! It was a super quick and fun knit. But as you can guess, I had to give it to Ginner.

{knitting} A WIP and a pile of socks

So, on my  last post  I finished by saying I didn't know when I'd be able to show a new finished project because I hurt my hand. Apparently, my brain was off that day because as soon as I published that I realised I have 2 other projects still to show... I think I've forgotten them because I'm not wearing them yet since it's still really cold. Anyway, I still need to sort through the photos so here is a knitting WIP for now.

{knitting} Spring beret

Today we'll continue with the disinterring of project photos I'd forgotten about... :) This here be my second  Spring Beret , modelled - and made for - my gorgeous girl! Continuemos então desenterrando as fotos das quais eu havia me esquecido... :) Esse aqui é o meu segundo  Spring Beret , modelado por - e feito para - minha menina linda!

{knitting} FO: There's a rabbit on my head x2

Warning: there will be a crap tonne of photos in this post! But, since it's effectively about two projects, it's not as bad as it may look to start with. Plus, they'll break up the words a bit and they're full of pretty colours. Advertência: esse post contém uma penca de fotos! Mas como são na verdade dois projetos, acaba não sendo tão ruim como parece. Além do mais, as fotos dão uma quebrada no texto e estão cheias de cores bonitas. Aren't they gorgeous? Não ficaram lindos?

{off the needles} FO x 2: Brattleboro II and Habitat

You may or may not know that we spent last Christmas over in Philadelphia, visiting my best friend and her husband who are living there temporarily. Naturally, I had to take knitted goodies for them both. For Ludmila, I made another version of my  Brattleboro hat  because when she saw mine she asked for one. Since I had half a skein of Malabrigo Worsted  left from a different hat, I thought why not? I was originally going to send the hat to Brasil because when I started it their move to Philly wasn't on the cards yet. Lucky for us all, plans had to be changed. Brattleboro Hat at Rittenhouse Square

FO: Brattleboro Hat

Since I first saw the Brattleboro Hat pattern, by Melissa LaBarre, in the Fall 2011 issue of Interweave Knits  I knew I wanted to make it. It's actually part of the book New England Knits  which I'm now asking myself why I've never got round to buying. Back to the hat, I'd seen on loads of project pages from other ravellers that it could be done with just half a skein of Malabrigo Merino Worsted. I had 54g left after knitting Nina a Koolhaas  so I though 'Why not?' De volta ao gorro, eu vi em várias páginas de projetos no ravelry que dava pra fazer um só com meio novelo de Malabrigo Merino Worsted. Eu tinha 54g sobrando do  Koolhaas  que eu fiz pra Nina e pense...
