I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer. I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...
Ok, so school is out for the summer and I have some teachers' gifts to talk about this week. I'm going to post them all separately over the next few days. I have been busy making all kinds of stuff, despite the blog being quiet. I just haven't had the motivation nor the time to edit photos and to write blog posts. I have found motivation and time today - only because it's been so godawfully hot that I just couldn't be arsed doing anything else!
The first gift is a Habitat hat, pattern by Brooklyn Tweed. It's my second go with this pattern and I had forgotten how beautiful it is. Plus, it's a lot of fun, too! I whipped this up very quickly. I think it was only 3 or 4 days, while I was watching Wimbledon.
It was made with Cascade 220 - but I can't remember the name of the shade and the tag has disappeared. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The pattern instructions are very straight forward and clear. I made the larger size but used smaller needles than recommended to account for my loose tension. The technical details can be found on my ravelry page.
The hat was given to Mr Noble, their IT teacher. He's one of very few male teachers at their school and both children love him! Liam is modelling it but it absolutely stretches out enough to fit a grown man's head. I tested it on Ginner. The beauty of stretchy cables...
