So long, Blogspot. Hello, Wordpress!

I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ .  There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer.  I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...

{knitting} Whitmoor Sweater

Now that the whirlwind of hosting visitors has ended, I can share my newest jumper: the Whitmoor sweater by Ami Lowden.  Holy moly did I get obsessed with this jumper! It started in early January when I logged in to Ravelry to update The Weekender jumper I had finally finished and I found the Whitmoor in my cart. I had no recollection of ever adding it or even seeing it before, but there are a couple of people in my Instagram feed who have made it or talked about it at some point, so I guess that's where it stemmed from. Once I had a proper look at it, it was love at first sight. I think the bishop sleeves did it for me and the lace yoke just sealed the deal. I immediately bought the pattern and ordered some yarn to knit it. I couldn't wait to get started. It's not a secret I'm a huge fan of  King Cole Merino blend 4-ply . I've used all weights in their merino blend collection: they're great quality, there's a good range of colours and they're super aff...

{on the needles} WIP: Flanders Bay has a body

I finally have some progress worth showing on my Flanders Bay jumper. Yeehaa! This year has started to speed up towards the end and I do not like it at all - but at the same time I do, because it means we're getting closer to our holiday. The downside is that I have bucket loads still to sort out and time seems to be running out. It was only a few days ago and I was thinking: "I've got bags of time. It's still September." Errr... Anyway, I finished the body of the jumper. Ta-da: Flanders Bay Pullover

{on the needles} WIP: Flanders Bay jumper

As I've mentioned before, I had the anchor band finished about 2 weeks ago. But when I tried it round my waist it was so stretched that it looked terrible. So I unpicked all 19 rows and re-knitted it on a bigger needle. Oh, the difference! Flanders Bay Jumper I am enjoying this a lot, despite having had to unpick it once already. It's the first time I've used this yarn - more about it on the FO post though. The fabric I'm getting is lush and there is a slight sheen to it, too. Flanders Bay Jumper The stitching will look a lot more even once I block it but I believe the three colours work extremely well together.

WIP: Next Step Sock KAL

I decided to join a KAL. I've never done it before but an online friend suggested it and I though: Why not? (Thanks, Petra!) So the idea behind it is to pick a pattern that will challenge you in some way. I've done a lotta socks. Cuff-down, toe-up, two at a time, one at a time... The one thing I hadn't tried and have wanted to for a while is a colour work one. Butterflies are Free So I chose the Butterflies are Free pattern. It's been in my ravelry queue for a long time. Now I finally bit the bullet and am going for it. The KAL started on Thursday, the 24th and I think I did pretty well. I didn't have time to work on it yesterday because we wen...
