So long, Blogspot. Hello, Wordpress!

I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ .  There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer.  I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...

{Deer and Doe} Melilot shirt x2

Shirts are by far my favourite thing to make. They're a more involved kind of project but they're worth every second. I enjoy the whole process and I find that a properly inserted collar gives me enormous satisfaction. Maybe I need to get out more. 😅 When I bought this Atelier Brunette Pink Moonstone viscose from  Sew Me Sunshine  I knew straight away I wanted to make a shirt out of it. I only had to figure out which one. I've had the  Mélilot  pattern for ages. I love  Deer and Doe . If I had to pick a designer to sew forever, they'd probably be at the top of the list. I've made a few of their patterns and they're always winners. I'm a sucker for their contemporary styling as well and it gets me every time. I want to make all their patterns. True story. I'd found my shirt pattern but I didn't dare cut into my precious, pretty expensive, slippery fabric willy nilly. Now, I don't do toiles. But I often make practise versions of patter...

{Sew Over It} Pussy Bow Blouse and {Deer and Doe} Azara Skirt

Hello again! Today I have a full outfit to share and - spoiler alert! - I BLOODY LOVE IT! I'm turning 40 next week 😱 and I'm going out for afternoon tea with my best girls to celebrate. Nothing too fancy but I wanted to give myself a birthday present for it. Enter the  Pussy Bow Blouse  from Sew Over It. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the nicest, poshest, most delicate thing I have in my wardrobe.

{Deer and Doe} Chardon skirt - the reboot

Still drawing from my holiday wardrobe, today I have a skirt to share. If you follow me on  Instagram , you might remember one of my holiday posts, where I said a lady had shouted a compliment at my outfit from inside her car while we were crossing the street. I was a little embarrassed (people were looking! 😂) but it was quite nice, actually. This is what I was wearing that day. After finishing my Landers (coming soon) I still had quite a bit of twill left. I didn't want another pair of trousers out of it and the fabric is too heavy to be anything other than bottoms. Maybe a skirt? Well, I've been meaning to revisit the Deer and Doe Chardon  for quite some time so I took the opportunity and ran with.

{Deer & Doe} Datura two ways

As I sit here watching France play Croatia in the World Cup Final, I thought it'd be fitting to share my two versions of the  Datura blouse  by Deer & Doe. Even though I want Croatia to win. Sorry, France. Deer & Doe are probably my favourite pattern company. I have made a few of them and have plans for a  Mélilot  soon.

{Deer & Doe} Bruyère Shirt

As some of you may know, we've been having a bit of a hard time with Johnnie, our old boy. He can't move his hind legs because we think a disc has slipped and is pressing on his spinal cord. He's in no pain, which is the most important thing, but he needs constant care, assistance to go to the loo, eat, drink, etc. I've not done a lot of sewing recently but finishing this baby has got me motivated to get back to it properly.

{sewing} Chardon Skirt

The next project I'd like to share is the gorgeous Chardon skirt by Deer and Doe. I can't overstate how pleased I am with it! It's a high waisted skirt with inverted box pleats all the way around. The contrast band is an option, as well as a bow on the back, which I chose to omit. Deer and Doe Chardon
