So far I haven't done a lot of sewing this year but I made an awesome shirt  last weekend during a surprise real life buddy sewing session with Mel. It was the best start to the new year! We went fabric shopping, did aerial yoga and had a bloody awesome time together. It was so good! But today I wanted to share our last buddy sew of 2019 which was the  Madeleine skirt  from Victory Patterns. This skirt has been on my list for a very long time. I've seen so many gorgeous versions of it as well. It seems to be one of those patterns that looks good on everyone. It has massive pockets, removable suspenders, topstitching for days and a super fancy lapped zip. What's not to like? I made a size 8 as it comes. However, after trying it on before hemming, I chopped 3 inches off the length because on me it was neither midi nor maxi and it looked odd. I felt like I was drowning in fabric slightly. Speaking of fabric... Oh my, do I love me some denim? This one is a lightw...

It's no secret I love making shirts. Hell, if you've been following my sewing for a while, you might be sick and tired of being beaten over the head with my shirt making stick by now. I'm not even sorry. 😁 My relationship with shirts wasn't love at first project. My first ever shirt  can only be described as a disaster. I didn't see it like that at the time and it's still in my wardrobe - even if I don't wear it. When I look at it now I find it quite endearing that past me thought it was good enough to wear out of the house. I will never get rid of my first Granville because that's the one that started my love of shirts. Apparently, I have a lot to say about revisiting this pattern so this is going to be a long and wordy one. If you don't care about shirts, move right along. No hard feelings. 😊 I love the fit and the shape of my first shirt. But because I had a nightmare with the collar stand, I've been putting off my second attempt for ...

I love a wide leg trouser. For quite a few months now I've been looking for the perfect pattern to bring to life the perfect trousers I dreamed up. I've bought a few and tried the Landers  and Butterick 6183, not once but twice . Although I like those, they're not exactly what I had in mind. I wanted similar pleats to those on the  Sew Over It Carrie Trousers  but floatier and wider on the legs. Enter Simplicity 8092, the loose trousers of my dreams!

Quite possibly the *girliest* thing I have ever made. EVER! But I really, really love it.  Isn't it fab? The pattern is the  Sewaholic Pendrell blouse . This is my second version (first one can be found  here ) of it. It's a super simple pattern, very flattering and easy to wear. This time I decided to add some detail to it rather than just making the plain version. I love the pleated sleeves. 

Hello again! I know it's been a little while since my last post but life has been getting in the way a bit - in the good sense - so I haven't had a lot of time to take photos and write up posts. Which is why this skirt has been finished for weeks now and I've only just managed to get it posted today.

Today I give not one, but *two* finished items in not one but *two* different locations! Ooooo... I know, I can barely contain the excitement, too! So, the first one is the last stop on my "sewing tour of Italy" [insert sad face here] and for that, we're in Amalfi , one of the bookends of the Amalfi Drive . The other being  Sorrento , which I fell in love with while we were there. This is my second version of the  Crescent Skirt  by Canadian company  Sewaholic Patterns . It's a brilliant pattern. The instructions were very straight forward and easy to follow. The construction is different from any skirt I've done before. Really enjoyable. I love all the details: the pieced together yoke, the slashed pockets, the topstitching. I went a bit fancy with my pockets topstitching in this version, look!  The fabric I used was some medium weight cotton I've had for ages, left over from a bag I made a couple of years ago. The colour is great and very summer...

Time to start sharing the stuff I made and took with me on our recent trip to Italy, also known as best holiday ever in the history of the world! Yeah, I did like it. Just a little bit. I'll try to keep it in order so first up, it's my  Pendrell blouse  in Venice!    

I finally finished my shirt of doom ! Check it out! And even though it was the shirt of doom, it's FULL of mistakes and everything went wrong in the making of it, I'm still happy with it. Finalmente terminei minha camisa ! Olha só! E mesmo estando cheia de erros e ter dado tanta coisa errada durante sua criação, ainda assim estou muito feliz com ela.
