So long, Blogspot. Hello, Wordpress!

I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ .  There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer.  I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...

{Friday Pattern Co} Davenport Dress

This one fills me with joy! First, there's the fabric... It's a Liberty Tana Lawn that Ginner gave me as an anniversary present about 8 years ago when I'd first started sewing. I've been saving it for so long and nothing ever seemed to be good enough for it but I finally found the perfect match. Then, there's the fact that this was a buddy sew with my best bitch, Mel ! After MONTHS of several cancelled plans to visit each other and do stuff together, we were at last allowed to actually meet up and have a metric crap tonne of fun last week! It was so wonderful to spend time with her and I can't wait to do it again. So let's get into the sewing. This is the Davenport dress by Friday Pattern Co. It's a very recent release and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to make one. Mel felt the same way so it was clear early on that this would be our buddy sew project for when she came to stay with us. To me, it gives strong peasant dress vibes but Mel thinks it...

{Victory Patterns} Madeleine Skirt - and a Liberty Granville shirt

So far I haven't done a lot of sewing this year but I made an awesome shirt  last weekend during a surprise real life buddy sewing session with Mel. It was the best start to the new year! We went fabric shopping, did aerial yoga and had a bloody awesome time together. It was so good! But today I wanted to share our last buddy sew of 2019 which was the  Madeleine skirt  from Victory Patterns. This skirt has been on my list for a very long time. I've seen so many gorgeous versions of it as well. It seems to be one of those patterns that looks good on everyone. It has massive pockets, removable suspenders, topstitching for days and a super fancy lapped zip. What's not to like? I made a size 8 as it comes. However, after trying it on before hemming, I chopped 3 inches off the length because on me it was neither midi nor maxi and it looked odd. I felt like I was drowning in fabric slightly. Speaking of fabric... Oh my, do I love me some denim? This one is a lightw...

{New Look} 6341 in Liberty Carline

I can't believe it's been 3 weeks since my last blog post! I have been sewing a lot but between the Easter holidays and our trip to France, I haven't had time for blogging.  We had a G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S Easter weekend around these parts. It was sunny and warm and perfect. I went to London on Saturday to see  Aladdin - The Musical  again, this time with Nina. It was still spectacular the second time around. On Sunday, I did precisely nothing and today we went out for a nice breakfast and to get in on the Hotel Chocolat sale. My Easter starts now, thank you very much. 😆 I also finished 2 books, which has been a long time coming. My reading this year has been shameful.  For our Leeds outing this morning, I decided to wear a dress I made last summer but had only worn once so far. I also never blogged about it and I thought it was about time. It's one of my favourite dresses and I need to show it some love, so here is my New Look 6341 . This is a little gem of a pat...
