So long, Blogspot. Hello, Wordpress!

I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ .  There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer.  I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore

{Jennifer Lauren Handmade} Ivy Pinafore

Until I succumbed to the Cleo fever  a few months ago, I never paid too much attention to pinafores and/or dungaree dresses. To me, they have been synonym with primary school uniforms and, consequently, not something I'd expect to find in the wardrobe of an almost 40-year old woman. I am happy to announce that Cleo completely changed those views, however. I have two of them now (there's a denim version , too) and I wear them a lot. But I wanted to try something a little bit different. Maybe one that looked a little more dress than dungaree? So when I found the  Ivy Pinafore  I couldn't stop thinking about making one for myself. As usual, this pattern had passed me by until I suddenly took notice of it. Why am I always doing this? Anyway, it's such a cute little dress and I am over the moon with how it turned out. The Ivy is a tent dress: more fitted around the bust and then it expands down in an A-line shape. There is a very swingy version and a more

{Sew Over It} Pussy Bow Blouse and {Deer and Doe} Azara Skirt

Hello again! Today I have a full outfit to share and - spoiler alert! - I BLOODY LOVE IT! I'm turning 40 next week 😱 and I'm going out for afternoon tea with my best girls to celebrate. Nothing too fancy but I wanted to give myself a birthday present for it. Enter the  Pussy Bow Blouse  from Sew Over It. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the nicest, poshest, most delicate thing I have in my wardrobe.

{Closet Case Patterns} Ginger Jeans 2.0

I've been meaning to have another go at making jeans since I made my first pair , all the way back in the summer of 2017. I can't actually believe it's that long ago! Far too long, in fact. So in order to avoid putting it off any longer, I added them to my #makenine plans . I had ordered some denim from  Sewisfaction  early in December so I had no excuse not to make a start.  I always thought that first pair was going to be a disaster and, although it wasn't, I definitely made the wrong size. The first pair was a 6 and, now I am a more experienced sewist, I can't help but think "What on Earth were you thinking, 2017 me?!" In her defence, my hips have widened an inch but the rest is the same. The difference is that I learned to be honest with myself and stopped thinking I can squeeze into that... Erm, NO, YOU CANNOT! Certainly not after all the panettone I had over Christmas. I wanted to try the low rise, stove pipe legs version (A). I

New Year, Same Me! Sewing plans and another Simplicity 8092.

I'm 2 weeks late but better late than never, I guess, so Happy New Year! I am not one for lots of resolutions and plans. I believe that if you want to change something or start doing something, just do it. You don't need the arbitrariness of January 1st to get it started. Having said that, I do like the clean slate that the start of a new year affords. So I am going to try to keep better track of my projects by starting a sewing journal, be them sewing or knitting, which I want to do more of this year. I've only managed 2 projects so far, one of which was socks that I started for Ginner 5 and a half years ago. They don't really count, I know, but they're there and it makes me feel good. This year I also wanted to plan out a few projects in advance so that I can tick them off as the year goes on. Just before I settled on my # #makenine2019  picks,  @sewistella  started her  #sewsix  tag and I really liked the idea of adding fabrics to the list. So I went
