When the  Indigo dress came out I wasn't bothered. I had just bought the  I AM Cassiopée  and didn't think I'd need another smock style dress in my life. I wasn't even sure if the shape was for me at that point. I have since made the Cassiopée twice and I wear them a lot. I still wasn't convinced I needed another pattern that was so similar though. But then,  Fabricate  had a party to launch their new shop location and I wanted to attend. Obviously, I'm still on a fabric buying ban until January and couldn't buy any fabric so I bought an Indigo pattern that night instead. I am so in love with this dress!!! How can something so simple look so good? I think the fabric plays a massive part though. Ever since I saw  this chambray version  that Caroline made I have wanted to make a similar one. It just works. My fabric came from  Ray Stitch  when I visited last month. I can't find it on their website but I also can't remember the name so it...

This pattern has been in my pattern box since it came out. Not only that, I won a kit to make this skirt from Fabricate 's Sew Saturday celebrations last year. That was in October! I can't believe how long it's taken me to come round to finally making this. There always seemed to be something getting in the way... The Ness skirt is another hit from Her Majesty, Queen Tilly. It has a yoke in the back for shaping, jeans style pockets on the back and the front and there's a zip fly closure. The pattern offers 2 options - a mini skirt and a below the knee version, with a centre front split. It's a very jeans-like skirt, actually. It would be a great warm-up for someone who's never made jeans before. You get all the traditional jeans styling, topstitching and heavier fabric without the potential headache that trouser fitting can sometimes cause. For my version, I chose the mini skirt option. This post should've been up days ago but as soon as I was ready to take some photos, the glorious weather turned to crap and the light was gone... Typical! I finally managed to take so me photos this weekend a nd here is my shiny new Rosa dress!

I think I've just made myself the cosiest thing ever! It's a  Nora top  by Tilly and the Buttons and I want to live in it. I made the long sleeve, high neck, stepped hem version and it's quite possibly the quickest thing I've ever made. It came together in just a couple of hours one morning - and that's accounting for one or two stupid mistakes... Perfect beginner pattern. As usual, I made the size 3 without any alterations. For next time, I might try to narrow the sleeves a little towards the wrists. Mostly due to the incredibly boring reason that I've struggled to keep the sleeves dry while washing up if I'm wearing this. 😂 I know, the adrenaline is off the charts. I might also turn the deep cuff hem into cuff bands instead but this is just because I prefer the way that looks. The fabric I used is this  tubular organic interlock  from Fabworks. As the name suggests, it does come as a tube. Very hand for cutting stuff on the fold on both sides....

After I made my first  Stevie , I knew I'd want a few more in my life. I wanted to use one of the fabrics I brought with me from our summer holiday but I didn't have enough of it; so I moved on to something else until I settled on a different fabric.  On one of my recent trips to  Fabricate , I came across this gorgeous  Dashwood Studio  cotton and I knew straight away that I would turn it into a Stevie. The problem was, instead of trusting my previous version and the pattern itself, for some unfathomable reason I thought I would go down a size. Sure enough, it was preeeeeetty tight around the bust/underarm area and a bit restrictive. I was so miffed. Luckily, it fit my daughter perfectly so on it went into her wardrobe. All is well and good and far as wasted time and effort go, but my wardrobe is still short one gorgeous Stevie of dreams, ins't it? So what's a girl to do? Why, trek all the way up to Fabricate again, buy the fabric again, print the PD...

I'm not one to follow trends. I don't pay attention to them and I am blissfully unaware of what is being sold in the shops from one season to the next. I have nothing against them, it's just not something I care about. I've always opted for classic shapes and styles that I know I'll be able to wear over and over.  Certain trends are hard to ignore though. Like dungarees, for example. When the Cleo  came out last year, it seemed to open the dungarees/pinafore floodgates. Suddenly, everyone was releasing patterns for them. I was convinced they were absolutely not for me. I'm almost 40 years old, for crying out loud! I can't pull that off. Can I? 🙊 However, while I was at the  Handmade Fair  in September, I saw  Louise  wearing the most beautiful Cleo! I don't know if it was the fabric she chose or the way she'd styled it, but something clicked in my brain and I knew I had to make one for myself as soon as I could. And so I did.

Hello again! I have such a massive backlog of finished stuff to share here that I probably could get away without sewing until the end of the year! We went gallivanting around New England a couple of weeks ago and I was on a mad mission to sew a crap tonne of stuff before we went. Funnily enough, the project I'm sharing today was not one of the ones I made for my holiday... Only because the new  Stevie  pattern by Tilly and the Buttons came out just before we were due to go and I didn't get a chance to whip one up to take with me. However, I saw to it just as soon as I got back home and felt like my brain could handle sewing again. Unfortunately this only happened last weekend - damn you, jetlag!

Yellow is the happiest colour. Fact. Case in point, my  Rosa dress  by Tilly and the Buttons. See?

One of the projects that came to life during the Me Made May whirlwind this year was this gorgeous  Arielle skirt , by Tilly and the Buttons. I knew I wanted to make it as soon as the pattern was released, all the way back when. I bought the PDF straightaway and printed it out. But it stayed in a corner for over a year - almost two! "Why?" I hear you ask. Well...

Next up, my Agnes  + Moneta = Agneta dress! Having fallen head over heels in love with the Agnes pattern - you can read about it here , I had to make a fifth version of it, didn't I? Technically I made it into a dress this time but I suppose it still counts. I don't think the love affair will stop here though. I have fabric for another dress and maybe a top, too. So yes, I think it's safe to assume I'm obsessed and it is set to continue.

Hello, there! For this post I decided to group together 4 different items, because they've all spawned (what a horrible word!) from the same wonderful pattern:  the Agnes top . So, a little warning: there will be LOTS of photos. I've had my eye on the Agnes pattern since it was launched. It's a pretty basic jersey top at its core, but you can add ruching on the neckline and shoulders, change the sleeve length and/or make them gathered. Very versatile.   

Today I'll share my  Mathilde blouse  by Tilly and the Buttons. I finished it in the summer but promptly forgot all about it - yes, I know how bad that sounds. In my defence, the cotton I used for it and the long-ish sleeves meant I didn't have many opportunities to wear it up until the colder weather arrived. Hoje vou mostrar minha  blusa Mathilde  da Tilly and the Buttons. Ela foi terminada no verão mas imediatamente esqueci de sua existência - eu sei, péssimo. Em minha defesa, o algodão que usei e as mangas quase longas contribuíram para que eu não tivesse muitas oportunidades de usá-la até o tempo esfriar um pouco.

The run of bad luck seems to have stopped now. Jolene has been fixed, brought home and even finished the Granville shirt - except for the buttons. Phew! Pelo visto a bruxa não está mais à solta por aqui. A Jolene foi concertada, já voltou pra casa e até terminou minha camisa - faltam só os botões. And I have a new dress to show off! I finished it a few weeks ago but today is the first time I've worn it. It's one of those "secret pyjama" outfits and I really love it. Not to mention that it makes me look way more dressed up than my usual choice. A bonus of sewing my own clothes: what's the point in making scruffy stuff? Melhor ainda, agora tenho um vestido pra mostrar! Terminei faz um tempinho mas só estreei hoje. É um desses pijamas em disfarce e uma delícia de usar. Sem contar que me sinto muito mais arrumada com ele do que minhas opções do dia-a-dia. Uma vantagem de costurar minhas próprias roupas: pra que perder tempo fazendo roupa relaxada?

Over the last several months I've been on a massive sewing kick, showing no signs of stopping any time soon. Having made a crap tonne of things, I decided I'd revisit the idea of blogging so I can have a record of what I made, how, when and so I can see myself improve.
