I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer. I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...
Today I'll share my Mathilde blouse by Tilly and the Buttons. I finished it in the summer but promptly forgot all about it - yes, I know how bad that sounds. In my defence, the cotton I used for it and the long-ish sleeves meant I didn't have many opportunities to wear it up until the colder weather arrived.
Hoje vou mostrar minha blusa Mathilde da Tilly and the Buttons.
As usual, Tillly's pattern is just perfect! The instructions are absolutely brilliant and the fit is spot on for me. I really enjoyed making this. The little tucks down the front were a particular highlight. I was so proud of how nicely they turned out. You know what else is fabulous? All the seams are French finished, which means it looks just as wonderful on the inside!
The sleeves are lovely: floaty and feminine but not too cutesy. The button back opening is such a clever little detail as well. I love garments that have surprises on the back, almost like a badly kept secret. And I must apologise for the awfulness of the next photo. I promise I haven't gone to sleep wearing the top but it was the only photo we took of the back and now it's too dark to redo it.
The fabric is a medium cotton I had in my stash for a while. It was great to work with. The only thing I'd do differently now, having gained more experience since making this, is use something lighter for the facing. But it isn't a problem as it is.
The colour is stunning and makes my innards go all fuzzy and warm. It's always nice to have a splash of summery colour when the weather starts to behave so dreadfully - and it has been particularly awful up here this past week.
A cor é linda demais e me deixa toda contente por dentro.
Now I'll let you into a little secret: I wore my Mathilde for a family meal out today and ended up splashing a few drops of gravy down my front! Yup, I had to photoshop them out of these pictures. No need to worry though: I've already washed it and it's as good as new again, thankfully!
Ainda bem...
