{sewing} Chardon Skirt

The next project I'd like to share is the gorgeous Chardon skirt by Deer and Doe. I can't overstate how pleased I am with it! It's a high waisted skirt with inverted box pleats all the way around. The contrast band is an option, as well as a bow on the back, which I chose to omit.

O próximo projeto que quero compartilhar é a saia Chardon da Deer and Doe. Estou apaixonada por essa saia. Ela tem cintura alta com pregas invertidas (?) na frente e atrás. A faixa em contraste é uma opção, assim como um laço na parte de trás, que decidi omitir.

Deer and Doe Chardon

This was my first time attempting box pleats - inverted or otherwise - and I absolutely loved them! They were so satisfying to make. The instructions were great and easy to follow. The pattern also features a concealed zip closure in the back. These seem to be getting easier and easier to manage for me, thankfully. I'm no longer petrified of them, like I used to be.
Esta foi a minha primeira vez costurando pregas e eu adorei! As instruções são ótimas e fáceis de seguir. O molde também tem um zíper oculto atrás. Estes estão ficando cada vez mais fáceis de instalar. Já não tenho mais pavor deles, como costumava ter.

Deer and Doe Chardon

The fabric I used, again, I have no clear idea of what it is. I've had it forever and originally was going to use it for placemats. I think I've got it in the furnishing fabric section, but who can say? It's quite weighty, which is great here as it really helps the skirt to keep its shape. I wonder if it might have some linen in it; it seems like it does to me. The contrast band is a very dark denim - hooray! I know what that one is! - that I had leftover from my Delphine skirt.
O tecido que usei, mais uma vez, não tenho idéia do que seja... Comprei há um tempão e originalmente iria usá-lo para um jogo americano. Ele é pesadinho, o que é ótimo aqui pois realmente ajuda a saia manter sua forma. Eu acho que talvez tenha um pouco de linho na composição, mas é só suposição. A faixa em contraste é um jeans bem escuro - hooray! Esse eu sei o que é! - que sobrou da minha saia Delphine.

The only thing I'm not 100% happy with are the belt loops and the way I sewed them on. They're a hot, sweaty mess! I unpicked all of them and re-sewed them but it's still not great. It never occurred to me to use a tiny zig zag stitch, like you find in jeans. I think that would've worked brilliantly here, seeing as the fabric is quite thick. That's something to work on next time, I guess.
A única coisa com a qual não estou 100% feliz são os passadores de cinto - como se chama isso em Português? Ficaram um horror! Eu descosturei e recosturei todos, mas ainda assim não estão lá essas coisas. Nem pensei em usar o zig zag, como encontramos nos passadores de calças jeans. Acho que teria funcionado aqui, visto que o tecido é bem grosso... Fica para a próxima.

Shoddy belt loops

Finally, POCKETS! Pockets are important to me! Especially those that are a decent size for my phone to slot into. I'm telling you: there's nothing more annoying than realising I have nowhere to keep my phone when I clean the house or walk the dog or whatever as my podcasts or audiobooks are playing.
Finalmente, BOLSOS! Bolsos são importantes para mim! Especialmente aqueles que são um tamanho decente para caber meu telefone. Sinceramente, não há nada mais irritante do que perceber que não tenho onde colocar o telefone quando limpo a casa ou levo o cachorro para passear ou o que seja enquanto meus podcasts ou audiobooks estão me distraindo.

Anyway, back to my pockets. I used leftover shirting - twice in one day! I'm shocked. - from the aforementioned Delphine skirt - this was the lining - and also a dress that I will write about soon. I love these pockets. And because they're made of shirting fabric, they're really thin and don't cause any bulk in the seam or underneath the shell of the skirt.
Enfim, de volta aos bolsos. Usei umas sobras da saia Delphine, a mesma do jeans, mas este foi usado para forrá-la. Adoro esses bolsos. E como eles são feitos de um tecido super leve, eles são bem finos e não causam volume na costura ou por baixo da saia.

I've worn my Chardon a lot already and have had loads of compliments so far. I love it when that happens! I'd definitely make this again and probably will.
Já usei minha Chardon várias vezes e recebi muitos elogios até agora. Adoro quando isso acontece! Definitivamente tentarei esse molde novamente.
