It's taken a while but I have finally arrived at the  Kalle shirtdress  party. And let me tell you, I'm having a great time! This pattern has been on my radar for a while but all I kept saying to myself was "Do I really need another shirtdress pattern?" Ultimately, the answer was "Yes. Yes, I do."  The fabric came first, as it's usually the case for me. I saw  this post  by Philippa from  Fabricate  and I immediately bought the fabric. When she found out I hadn't yet made a Kalle, she threatened to ban me from the shop. I'm back! I've not been sewing much but I got back to it last week and I have something to share today. The whole month of May was a write-off for me. The first two weeks involved a fabulous trip to London with my bestie from Brasil and then she stayed with us for a few days, too. We had a sewing intensive and she made herself a top, but I didn't sew for myself at all. After she left, our kitchen was refitted. That didn't affect the sewing room, however, it very much affected my sewing brain space; which contributed to zero sewing motivation until last weekend. I made the  Avid Seamstress City Trousers  and I think I have finally found my perfect smart trouser pattern. I've tried the Sew Over It Ultimate trousers about 5 times now (you can see one here  and another here ) but they've never been good enough. A few weeks ago I was asked if I'd like to be part of a new thing  Fabworks  were trying out. They'd chosen a few of their customers to make something with their fabric of the month for May. Along with the letter, there was a sizeable swatch of the fabric they wanted us to use and it was gorgeous. You can probably guess I said yes, otherwise this would be a pretty pointless blog post introduction. 😆 Although I would never have picked it myself, the fabric is incredible and very unusual. It's called Kaleidoscopic Galaxies and it does remind me of a kaleidoscope. The colours are so saturated and vibrant that you really need to see it in person to fully appreciate it. These photos do not do it justice. The fabric is a scuba, which is stretchy but stable, similar to a ponte roma. But it's a bit spongy like neoprene, although much, much thinner. I can't believe it's been 3 weeks since my last blog post! I have been sewing a lot but between the Easter holidays and our trip to France, I haven't had time for blogging.  We had a G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S Easter weekend around these parts. It was sunny and warm and perfect. I went to London on Saturday to see  Aladdin - The Musical  again, this time with Nina. It was still spectacular the second time around. On Sunday, I did precisely nothing and today we went out for a nice breakfast and to get in on the Hotel Chocolat sale. My Easter starts now, thank you very much. 😆 I also finished 2 books, which has been a long time coming. My reading this year has been shameful.  For our Leeds outing this morning, I decided to wear a dress I made last summer but had only worn once so far. You know when you buy fabric and have absolutely no idea what you'll make with it? That happens to me  all the bloody time  sometimes. Case in point, this gorgeous Dashwood rayon I bought from  Fabricate  last year. As soon as I saw it, I fell in love with the colour and I knew I'd have to make something out of it. But since I didn't know what that was yet, in the fabric box it went and stayed there for some time... Today I have a knitted thing to share!  I started this jumper about this time last year and I only got around to finishing it a couple of weeks ago. It started life as the  Breakwater  pattern by Cecily Glowik-MacDonald but I deviated from it quite substantially. The neckline is the Breakwater but that's about it. I cast on the second size, which I believe is for a 34-inch bust but I don't even know when I stopped following the pattern. The original is a pretty fitted jumper and clearly, mine is not. I had to frog and reknit the sleeves a few times until I got a shape and fit I was happy with. I still knitted mine in one piece, just like the original pattern. I love sewing, even more than knitting these days, but seaming up knitting projects is something that I have always hated and always will hate with the passion of a thousand suns. 😖 Making up the pattern as I went along came with its pitfalls though. Yes, I know this is now my third Sew Over It  Pussy Bow Blouse this year. What can I say? I love the pattern. If I were a nice person, I'd apologise. But I am not a nice person, this is my blog and I make the rules, so...  However, this post will be short and sweet. I promise.  I have to be honest and admit that I wasn't actually going to write a blog post for this version. Everything else is still the same as the original, except for the neckline - this time I made the v-neck option. If you missed that original post, you can find it  here . "So why are you wasting everybody's time like this?", I hear you ask. Well... I have two reasons. One: I got a new camera which only arrived on Monday. Since we've been having a new boiler fitted and I haven't been able to sew, this is the only thing I had to hand. And when you get a new toy like that, the law says you have to play with it immediately, right?  Ok, maybe there is no such law... Listen,...
