I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer. I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...
Ok, so today is going to be a very quick post because there's not a lot to say about a knit top. In this case, the Seamwork Astoria. I'd like to apologise about the quality of these photos. I had to move into the front room but they still aren't the best. This time of year is HARD for taking pictures.
The fabric I used has been in my stash since the Knitting and Stitching Show I went to in March. I bought it from Higgs and Higgs with the pattern already in mind. They have so many other lovely colours though that I can see myself sewing up another couple of them. I was concerned that the fabric would be far too thick but actually it sewed like a dream. I made the whole shebang using the overlocker in about 90 minutes; and it took me about 20 minutes to cut it out in the morning. I actually sewed it with Mel - yes, again! - but it barely even counts as buddy sewing since it went so quickly.
As for sizing, I made the size S (4-6) without any adjustments. One change I made was to add a cuff to the sleeve instead of turning it under. I thought it would look nicer, since there's a back on the neck and another at the bottom. The sleeves are TIGHT. I can only wear this with a tank top underneath. Luckily, because the fabric has layers - it's almost as if it was quilted - it's pretty warm anyway. The sleeves are fine on my upper arms but preposterously tight on my wrist. Which is quite ridiculous since I'm big on top but have child-size wrists. Not joking, I can go around them with my pinkie! Obviously that will be an adjustment for next time, but it should be fairly straight forward to do anyway.
I'm annoyed that I didn't even think about matching the cables of the bottom band with the main jumper though. I never even occurred to me until I was pinning the band on. Oh well, you live and learn, I suppose. My neckband sticks up a bit on the shoulders, but I suspect it's the bulky fabric more than anything else. It doesn't really bother me anyway.
I'm very pleased with it overall. The length is perfect for wearing it with skirts, just as I'd hoped, and it's so quick to make that I'm sure there will be a few more of it in my future.
To finish it off, the pin I'm wearing is a new one from Pink Coat Club. I love the gold and black even though I don't often wear black. Sometimes, it's the colour you need. It only launched this week and, if you're quick, you can still grab yours with a discount. This is not a sponsored post and I bought my pin myself. Yes, I'm Joy's friend but I was her customer first because I really like her products.
Right, time to get to yoga. See you soon.
