I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer. I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...
Hello again! Scotland was F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C! It was our first caravan trip of this year - the weather has been so crappy! - and the first in our shiny, new, big one. We loved it.
Just before we went, I made this simple top with what I had left from my Susie blouse.
It came from Simplicity 1202, which I think I got with a magazine.
I stumble upon it on my desk and decided to try it out on a whim. It didn't need a lot of fabric - I think I only used a metre. And you know what? I bloody love everything about it! I cut a straight size 10 and I'm very pleased with how it fits me.
It's raglan sleeves - my very first - which were so easy to put together. I have recently had a *miserable* time inserting a set-in sleeve into a dress, so by comparison, the raglan here was a piece of cake!
And look how lovely it fits! As I said, the top is super simple so there are no facings - bonus! - and the neckline is finished with a bias strip.
The only closure is a button and slit at the back neck, but it can be slipped on and off without like a t-shirt. I really enjoyed making the slit and I'm quite chuffed with the way it turned out. My rouleau loop is not too shabby either.
There's not much left to say on the fabric other than I'm just as impressed with it as last time. Soft, drapey and very easy to handle.
In other news, I'm making great progress on my Lauriel. Only have the sleeves to finish now!
See you soon!
