I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer. I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore
Hello, again! It's been a while, I know. But that's because I thought I didn't have anything to show... As it turns out, I forgot to post this one that I made last year to take with me to Brasil last December! Yes, I'm rubbish. But my Hawthorn is gorgeous, look!
It's my second version of it - you can find the first one here - and I think it's my favourite ever make so far. I know I say that every time but I still mean it, even today, almost 6 months down the line. I love all the little details of it, like this constrasting under collar:
And the self covered buttons in the same fabric as the under collar. Which were an absolute ballache to make but worth every second of faffing!
Plus, I ADDED POCKETS!!! POCKETS! I love me some pockets - as you can see by my face in this photo... Pockets are the best. And not just any pocket! Orangey stripey pockets! Man, oh man!
Now, you'll have to excuse the creasing. These pictures were taken in São Paulo, in January, during the hottest picnic I have ever had in my life; which led to me being sat on the blanket, with the dress bunched up around my thighs while I fanned myself with my hat. A picture of class, if nothing else!
The pattern and instructions are just as wonderful as last time. The fit is also the same, although, strangely enough, this time I had to add the hook and eye on the waist, to stop some gaping. I think it might have something to do with the size of the buttons.
The fabric is a gorgeous 100% cotton from Fabworks, that I love so much I went back the other day and bought a load more. It presses beautifully, it's easy to sew with and I love wearing it. Very comfortable and light on a scorching hot day.
We've just come back from our Easter holiday in Italy and I took this dress with me. I happened to wear it on the hottest day we had there as well. Maybe it's its thing: if I wear it, the weather will be hot. I hope it works in British soil because the weather here right now is very, very cold!
I will be back soon. I made lots of pieces to take on holiday with me in March. And now we've been back a few days I'm already planning what I'm sewing next.
