I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer. I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...
This post was supposed to have gone up on Monday but I was too busy attending THE BEST CONCERT EVER on Sunday night and everything got a bit held up... In case you don't know or were wondering, we went to see Mumford & Sons and I'm still buzzing today! It was bloody amazing! And now I'll stop talking about it because it only makes me want to go back in time and see them again.

Ok, so this is the Chalet cardigan by Cecily Glowik MacDonald. It has been finished for much longer than I care to admit but I put off finishing the button band for months... The actual knitting was all done about this time last year! Although this may not be a terrible thing, since I learned how to reinforce the button band with ribbon in the meantime.
Então, esse é o cardigan Chalet, da Cecily Glowik MacDonald. Ele foi terminado há mais tempo do que eu estou disposta a admitir mas fiquei enrolando um tempão pra terminar os botões... O tricô em si foi terminado no final do ano passado! Se bem que talvez a demora não seja tão ruim assim, já que aprendi a reforçar as casas de botão com fita de gorgorão durante esse tempo.
The instructions were absolutely wonderful, as are all of Cecily's patterns I've tried so far - and there have been a fair few. The body of the cardigan is knitted in one piece from the bottom up. The sleeves are knitted separately then set and sewn in after blocking. It features a deep, exaggerated v-neck as well. The button band doubles up as a cute ribbed border that goes all the way around the front and back neck.

The original pattern has patch pockets with a cable detail on the front. I chose to omit them because I thought they'd draw attention to my midriff and make it look massive. If I had been using a darker colour I'd have put them on. Other than omitting the pockets, I knitted the smallest size straight up, no modifications at all.
A receita original tem bolsos na frente, com um detalhe de trança. Resolvi omitir os bolsos pois achei que eles chamariam atenção ao meu abdômen, dando a ilusão de uma barriga enorme. Se estivesse usando uma cor mais escura eu provavelmente teria feito os bolsos. Tirando isso, segui a receita à risca.
The yarn I used was British Breeds Blueface Leicester DK. It was amazing to knit with! It has a sort of sheen to it, making it look very silky. And it is so soft against the skin as well! And what about this luscious colour, eh?! Isn't it incredible? I have some balls of it left over and I'll definitely use it again. I might even make a scarf out of it. Or a chunky shawl? Oooohhh, so many possibilities...
A lã que usei foi a British Breeds Blueface Leicester DK. Adorei trabalhar com ela! Ela tem um certo lustre, dando uma aparência sedosa à textura do casaco. É muito macia na pele também! E essa cor, hein? Não é incrÃvel?! Ainda tenho uns novelos sobrando e definitivamente vou achar alguma coisa pra tricotar com eles.

Now for my favourite part of this cardigan: the button band! I saw this how-to for a reinforced knitted button band on lladybird's blog and decided I wanted to try it. I'd heard of the technique before but could never be bothered getting to the sewing machine. Now that I'm always at it, there was no excuse and I went for it. I am so glad I did! It has made a massive difference to final result. The buttonholes don't get stretched out of shape when the cardigan is buttoned up and it makes it look really finished and polished on the inside - great for when I want to wear it unbuttoned.
Agora a minha caracterÃstica favorita dessa peça: o reforço das casas de botão! Eu vi esse tutorial usando fita de gorgorão no blog da lladybird e resolvi tentar. Já tinha ouvido falar nessa técnica mas nunca tive saco de ir até a máquina de costura. Como hoje em dia estou sempre perto dela resolvi ir pro abraço. E como fico contente em ter tentado! Fez uma super diferença ao resultado final. As casinhas não esticam quando o casaco está abotoado e, mesmo com ele aberto, o acabamento está super bem feito por dentro.

The buttons I already had and they're perfect for this! They go so well with the yellow. I'm incredibly pleased with this project!
