I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer. I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore
Remember a few days ago when everything was going wrong in my sewing room? I thought maybe it was the shirt that was cursed or something and made peace with that. You know, some projects just aren't meant to be finished or easy or both. Plus, a first proper tailored shirt wasn't going to be the easiest thing I ever made, right? Time to move on to knitting.

I've been working on my Vianne cardigan since July but had a big break from it while the children were off school over the summer and only just picked it up again. Once my sewing machine was gone, I decided to weave in the ends and block it before knitting the button band. As you can guess, the weather was very wet the next day and I had to resort to my hair dryer to speed the drying process along.
Comecei esse cardigan em Julho mas dei um tempo nele enquanto os gordos estavam de férias no verão e só voltei a ele recentemente. Como minha máquina está no conserto, decidi fazer o acabamento final e blocar antes de começar a faixa dos botões. Como dá pra perceber, o tempo estava péssimo no dia seguinte e tive que usar o secador de cabelo pra secar a peça direito.
Once dried, I picked up the stitches all around the front and back neck and made the button band. Oh, well, whaddya know? This little ball of yarn above is what that button band looks like now. Not enough stitches, band not long enough or stretchy enough and, in short, a cherry on top for my very crappy crafty week.
Quando secou, peguei todos os pontos ao longo da frente e da nuca do casaco e terminei a faixa toda. E adivinha! Essa bola de lã aà em cima é a tal da faixa. Tive que desfazer. Não peguei pontos suficientes, a faixa ficou curta e sem estender o suficiente. Pra resumir, fechou com chave de ouro minha semana infernal!
My tension was a little off on this pattern and because of that I didn't go with my tried and tested "pick up 3, skip 1" method, even though my gut was screaming at me all over the place to just go with it. Note to self: always trust thy gut!
Minha amostra não bateu com os números da receita e por isso resolvi ignorar meu método testado e aprovado de "pega 3, pula 1", sendo que meu instinto estava aos berros me dizendo o contrário. Sempre confie no seu instinto!
I have now and, mathematically at least, it all looks as it should. The final result remains to be seen. I need a bit of a breakthrough this week. It's really bugged me not having my sewing machine with me. A lot more than it probably should, to be honest. And a lot more than I expected it to. On the other hand, it's given me a kick up the backside to get this cardigan finished.
Agora confiei e, matematicamente pelo menos, tudo parece certo. O resultado final fica por vir. Preciso que algo dê certo essa semana. Estou muito incomodada de não ter minha máquina comigo. Muito mais do que deveria, na verdade. E muito mais do que eu esperava. Por outro lado, isso me deu o estÃmulo pra pegar esse casaquinho e tentar finalmente terminá-lo.

Detalhe: acabei de perceber como essa cor é parecida com o tecido do meu Moneta!
