So long, Blogspot. Hello, Wordpress!

I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ .  There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer.  I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...

{Deer & Doe} Datura two ways

As I sit here watching France play Croatia in the World Cup Final, I thought it'd be fitting to share my two versions of the  Datura blouse  by Deer & Doe. Even though I want Croatia to win. Sorry, France. Deer & Doe are probably my favourite pattern company. I have made a few of them and have plans for a  Mélilot  soon.

{Lisette for Butterick} Floral 6183 trouser fail

These trousers started off as a disaster of epic proportions. I made this pattern for the first time last year . I really like them and wanted a pair for summer. The fabric is (I think) a viscose crepe that I've had in my stash for about 2 years. It was very slippery at times but mostly fun to sew. It pressed beautifully but it doesn't crease much. I'm still unsure as to the suitability of this fabric to the pattern. I think it's too lightweight but the finished trousers do match the vision of what I was going for. It has worked at least aesthetically if not structurally.

{True Bias} Lander pants/shorts

Is anyone still out there...? My sewing motivation took a real nose dive at the end of last year and I actually didn't touch my sewing machine for about 6 months. Thankfully I'm over that hump now and I've been sewing up a storm for the last couple of months. I have a backlog of stuff to blog about and had even decided on a rough schedule and everything. But all of that went right out of the window last night because... Well, these happened.

{Deer & Doe} Bruyère Shirt

As some of you may know, we've been having a bit of a hard time with Johnnie, our old boy. He can't move his hind legs because we think a disc has slipped and is pressing on his spinal cord. He's in no pain, which is the most important thing, but he needs constant care, assistance to go to the loo, eat, drink, etc. I've not done a lot of sewing recently but finishing this baby has got me motivated to get back to it properly.

{Lisette for Butterick} B6183 - baggy trousers!

Haha! That's right, I made me some baggy trousers! And I love them. I don't even know how I came across this pattern but I'm very glad I did. The trousers are fab and I think the top looks really cute, too. The trousers have a culottes option as well. I've already traced it but still need to find some fabric for it. Excuse the wrinkles, I'd been sat at the sewing machine before we took these pictures.

{McCall's} 7533 floral sheath dress

I've now started to work on my winter wardrobe. I don't have many dresses I can wear with thick tights and boots. So far, my winter style has always been jeans and a jumper. But I want to have some stuff handy for when I want to look a little less scruffy... This dress is the  McCall's 7533  which I got free with a recent issue of Love Sewing magazine - though I can't remember which.
