So long, Blogspot. Hello, Wordpress!

I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ .  There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer.  I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore ...

{sewing} I MADE MY OWN JEANS!!!

Hell, yeah, I made me some jeans! I had a different post planned for today but, you know... I made jeans so I'm gonna talk about jeans. **Warning**: there are some shots of my bum. Also, I wear underwear. Get over it. In all my years on this planet, I can only think of ONE pair of jeans I've owned that fit me well. I only bought it about 2 years ago. When I tried to buy another earlier this year, I don't know what Boden have done with their measurements, but it's all gone to hell as far as fitting me goes. Great!

{sewing} Ultimate Trousers and watermelons

Today I have two pieces to share - although one of them you'll be sick of seeing very soon. I think it is due to make an appearance on the next 2 posts as well as this one... Fans of novelty watermelon prints will be pleased. That's all I'm saying. Anyway, the first item I want to talk about is my  Sew Over It Ultimate Trousers  - which I've been putting off making for over a year and I really shouldn't have. Trousers are actually not as scary as I thought they were. I finished it in May but because of the give in the fabric, it was enormous on me.  I'd better insert a disclaimer here because I don't think I know enough about the fitting of trousers - or anything else, for that matter. To my mind, if it is comfortable to wear and flattering, that's all I care about. Lines, wrinkles and stuff like that mean absolutely nothing to me.

{McCall's} M6885 Shirtdress

Now that I proved to myself that I can sew a decent collar, it looks like I've developed a shirtdress addiction. Which this time around is being fuelled by  McCall's M6885 .

{sewing} The Copenhagen Dress

When I went to Copenhagen last June I decided I needed a new dress to take with me. The problem was that this decision came late one night, about 5 days before I was due to go. I should also mention that, at the time, I hadn't yet finished a top I was working on and had a pair of trousers still to hem. Unrealistic deadlines. Who doesn't love them?! Thankfully, this time it worked out and gave me a kick up the butt to make a dress that I'd had planned for over a year. I give you, Simplicity Lisette 1419.

{Sew Over It} The Doris Dress

I am slightly ashamed to admit that this dress has been finished, except for its hem, for over a year... I thought it was going to be much more time consuming than it ended up being so I kept putting it off for ever. In my defence, the hem really stretched down in places and until the start of this year I didn't have a dress form to help me even it out. But here it is, in all its glory, the  Doris dress !
