So long, Blogspot. Hello, Wordpress!

I've been wanting to move my blog away from Blogspot for a while but could never be bothered to actually do it. This week was the tipping point though, and I've now fully migrated over to  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ . The blogspot address will remain here but all new posts will only appear at  https://patsypoomakes.wordpress.com/ .  There are lots of reasons for the move but my biggest one is how hard Blogger has made it for people to subscribe to receive new posts via email. It's such a basic requirement but apparently, they think it's too much to offer.  I'm basing this purely on how I myself prefer to consume this stuff. I can't be arsed with feed readers anymore and emails are easy and convenient. When I receive one, if I fancy reading it, I will click through to it and, if not, I'll just delete it. Another reason is the spat between Google (owners of Blogger) and Instagram/Facebook/Meta. I don't even know if this is still the case anymore

{knitting} A wave of WIPs

Today I am going to shame myself into getting some stuff finished. I feel that if I post them here, I will feel the pressure to get them completed. Though I can confidently say that if shame worked for me I wouldn't own half of the yarn, nail polish, handbags, shoes and perfume that I own... Still, it doesn't hurt to try, right? I'm going to list these in order of oldest to newest cast on.

{knitting} An ode to my favourites

Everyone that has a hobby often finds that there are certain tools without which it wouldn't be quite as enjoyable to undertake said hobby. As a knitter, I only really need a couple of pointy sticks and some string. Although I have several different needles, measuring tapes, tension square rulers, needle gauges, tapestry needles and so on. Not to mention, of course, too many balls, skeins and hanks of wool, silk, alpaca, cotton  and more all over the house.

{off the needles} FO: Christmas in Philly - errr, not quite

My Flanders Bay pullover is finally ready - now that winter seems to have finished! Yay for sucky timing. I'm not all that bothered because that means I'll have a new jumper to bring out once it starts getting cold again.

{off the needles} FO x 2: Brattleboro II and Habitat

You may or may not know that we spent last Christmas over in Philadelphia, visiting my best friend and her husband who are living there temporarily. Naturally, I had to take knitted goodies for them both. For Ludmila, I made another version of my  Brattleboro hat  because when she saw mine she asked for one. Since I had half a skein of Malabrigo Worsted  left from a different hat, I thought why not? I was originally going to send the hat to Brasil because when I started it their move to Philly wasn't on the cards yet. Lucky for us all, plans had to be changed. Brattleboro Hat at Rittenhouse Square

{off the needles} FO: owls

I started knitting my owls way back in March last year. Let's not dwell on that though. The wool came from  the loveliest wool shop in the world . I finished - I *think* - around September time. I did get stuck and ended up throwing it across the room at one stage. That was because when it came to joining the sleeves I had my moron cap on and did it wrong no fewer than THREE times. Wrong how? With the inside of one sleeve to the outside. But there is no seam, I hear you say. Well, yes. You would be right. But the paired increases wouldn't look great on the outside of the arm. The fact we had the hottest and the best summer I've had in my 11 years here also didn't help. I couldn't bear the thought of knitting anything, let alone a chunky and rather woolly jumper.  o w l s
